André Marfaing

In 1949, Toulouse-born artist André Marfaing settled in the City of Light, then in full artistic effervescence. He befriended Pierre Soulages, Alfred Manessier, Maurice Estève, and other painters who supported his venture on the road to abstraction. In 1964, Galerie Ariel took him under its wing, alongside Corneille, Bengt Lindström, and Yasse Tabuchi In 2018, the Musée des beaux- arts de Quimper, together with the Musée de beaux-arts de Carcassonne, presented a retrospective exhibition of Marfaing’s paintings and washes.
