John Richard Fox

1927 - 2008

John Fox was influenced by Goodridge Roberts while attending the School of Art and Design at the Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal (1946-49). He taught at the Saidye Bronfman Centre and Concordia University, and spent a significant time in Venice, Italy, from the mid 1970s until his death, in 2008. Using texture overlays and colour, his large canvases are quietly contemplative, elegant yet painterly. Fox’s work is found in major public, corporate and private collections in Canada, the United States and Europe.
